The Insurance Clerk plays a crucial role in facilitating the financial aspects of healthcare delivery, ensuring that patients receive the necessary coverage for medical services and that healthcare providers are appropriately compensated for their services.
Essential Functions:
STAT/Urgent Insurance Verifications and Pre-Certs for ancillary testing services.
Verify patient insurance coverage, process requests for pre-authorization for medical services provided and ensure denials are submitted timely to insurance companies to promote quality patient care and cost effectiveness to insurance carriers.
Explain charges to patients and assist with payment arrangements or insurance inquiries for patient responsibility/deductible amounts.
Maintain accurate records of patient insurance information, CPT and ICD-10 coding for ancillary tests/procedures.
Answer patient inquiries regarding insurance coverage, explain benefits and assist with any insurance - related paperwork or issues Collaborate with Healthcare Providers to ensure accurate documentation of services and to resolve any diagnosis discrepancies or insurance - related issues pertaining to ancillary testing.
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and follow established procedures for handling confidential patient information Address any issues or disputes that may arise with pre-authorization requests and work to resolve them efficiently and effectively through denials processes.
Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, such as physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure smooth operations and provide excellent patient care REQUIRED
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years' experience with prior authorization and verification process Cardiology or General Internal Medicine experience preferred eClinicalWorks experience preferred Job Type:
